Newcastle International is located just 8 miles from the city centre and is connected to the metro system which is the quickest and easiest way to get into the city centre.
Trains run every 5 - 15 minutes and the journey takes approximately 20
minutes. The return fare from Newcastle International to Gateshead is £3.30.
Bus services, car hire and taxis are also available at the airport. A taxi to the city
centre costs between £10 - £15.

Transportation in the City
Newcastle Gateshead is compact and easy to get around on foot or by public transport.The Metro system is one of the easiest ways to get around and has been rated one of the UK’s most efficient and rapid transport systems. There are metro stations in the heart of Newcastle city centre (Monument and Haymarket), at Newcastle Central Station and Gateshead town centre (Gateshead Quays is just a 10 minute walk or short shuttle bus journey from Gateshead station). There is also a station at Newcastle International Airport.
The bright yellow, low emission QuayLink buses offer a frequent, accessible and easy to use service and are the best way to get around central Newcastle Gateshead.
