All registered accompanying persons are invited to the following
two half-day tours.
FRIDAY JULY 4, 2003
Castle of Chillon and Montreux
Passing through Lausanne, drive through the countryside
and reach the Castle of Chillon located by the Lake of Geneva. A
guided tour of this medieval fortress and royal residence will be
an opportunity to review history from the 11th to the 16th centuries.
This visit will be followed by a stop in Montreux with shopping
before returning to Geneva by motorway.
SATURDAY JULY 5, 2003
Palais des Nations and the old town of Geneva
Since 1946 this vast regal and cultural complex houses
numerous UN bodies. Guided visits enable one to gain access to the
renowned conference rooms where many international agreements have
been negotiated.
Continue on a short bus ride for a stroll along the cobblestone
streets of Geneva's old town, dominated by St. Peter's Cathedral,
the historic Reformation Wall and some impressive ancient and modern
architecture.
Departure for both tours will be from the Conference Registration
Desk at the Palexpo Congress Center at 09:00 and return at 13:00
(approximately).
